Alison Reed

Professional Counselor Intern

I am passionate about empowering individuals to actualize the potential existing within them. Therapy is a powerful tool that has helped me recognize my value by reframing my thoughts and allowing me to author my own narrative. These are some of the building blocks of CBT and narrative therapy that I often incorporate with my clients. We all come across roadblocks in life, some are easier to get past than others. As a therapist, it is my goal to help navigate those roadblocks and provide support along the way. Whether our journey together is long-term with many twists and turns, or short-term just to get you back on track, I will be there every step of the way.

I believe in the healing properties of talk therapy, but understand it can be a difficult process. The comfort of my clients is of the utmost importance, and I will adapt to what is best for them in the process of working together. I believe in a collaborative process and that clients are the experts of their own lives. I value the strength that we all have as individuals and what we can accomplish with the extra support we gain from positive relationships.

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Loyola University Chicago with a background in medical sciences. I am currently in the last stage of obtaining my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University. I have experience in special education, working with teens and young adults struggling with social, emotional, and behavioral setbacks stemming from neurocognitive as well as trauma-related issues. I have worked with individuals from many different cultures/backgrounds, and I am always open to learning and exploring the aspects of identity that shape who we are. In my free time, I enjoy attending outdoor events, practicing languages, and starting new adventures. I look forward to passing on the insight I have gained and assisting you on your journey to unified well-being!
